I use acrylic, crayons, colour pencils, water colours and any materials that are available to draw and paint images that I remember in Iran.

I am 59 years old and I came to England in July 2006 from Iran as an asylum seeker. My asylum claim is still in process and I still cannot work or engage in paid employment. I volunteer to draw and paint for ASSIST (Asylum Seekers Short Term Initiative) and my designs are use to raise money to produce my paintings into cards for sale. I see this as a way of giving something back to the organisation that has helped me a lot.

Obtaining this bursary will help me to show more of my artistic abilities which I have learned from my mentor/tutor Annie Mays and hope to put a showcase of all my artworks and hope to network with other artists too.

STUDIO: I will share the space with my mentor/tutor, Annie Mays who has an amazing studio in the garden overlooking trees and calm scenery where I can relax and enjoy painting.
