My work is inspired by sailing, travel, strong coastal and inshore landscape. I paint mainly in acrylic, oils, watercolour. Sometimes mixed media and print.
This is my first year living back in Sheffield. I graduated from Sheffield College of Art - fine art painting and after two years in London returned to teach and bring up my family. I continued to paint, exhibit and sell work mainly influenced by the local landscape. The gritstone edges of Derbyshire and Yorkshire still feature in my work.
After many years trail sailing to coasts, Ian and I had the opportunity to move permanently to Anglesey, North Wales. We regularly visited small harbours rather than marinas and mostly anchored or picked up buoys in sheltered lochs. Linear coastal journeys have become a constant theme. I choose to take sketchbooks rather than camera, using whatever medium is most appropriate for the situation. I aim to capture the rhythms of moving subjects on land and water. I then develop themes further in oils and acrylics.
Originals, finished and in progress, and sketchbooks can be seen in my small studio. Special cards of my work and small prints will also be for sale, throughout the year.
