I paint loosely in watercolour and pastels, enjoying both landscapes and flowers. My paintings are rich and vibrant in colour, mostly inspired by my wonderful surroundings.
Each day I wake up to the incredible colours and atmosphere of the changing seasons spread before me around my house above Hathersage, close to Stanage Edge. From my kitchen window, the shifting light spreading across the moors picks out not just greens and browns, but every hue of pink and indigo, lilac and ochre; it is wonderfully inspiring.
From being a small girl I have always had the need to express myself by drawing and painting, leading to a B.A. degree in textiles. The love of texture and colour gained from my work with textiles now links itself with my joy in developing innovative ideas in watercolours and pastels to tell the story of the world around me, the flowers and animals in the beautiful garden surrounding the ancient barn, which is my studio, and of course, the landscape so close to my heart.
STUDIO: My studio is a beamed barn set near an idyllic village in the shadow of Stanage Edge.
DIRECTIONS: Best by car. Follow the Open Studio signs from Hathersage, or telephone for directions.
