I am a painter (mainly mixed media) and a printmaker (etchings, lino, screenprints and collagraphs) and I am largely inspired by the local landscape.
I live in Sheffield and divide my time between working as a Community Dentist and art.
I am currently studying Fine Art part time at Nottingham University.
My work is largely inspired by the landscape, both urban and rural. I enjoy observing the effects of seasonal and climatic changes on familiar viewpoints and of trying to capture this two dimensionally.
My principal medium is mixed media, working mainly in acrylics and oils. I enjoy creating different marks by splattering paint, scratching into it to reveal layers beneath and overlaying with inks, aerosols and crayons to create different textures.
As well as trying to create quite loose and spontaneous paint effects I also enjoy the more precise and meticulous discipline of printmaking. I have explored etching, lino-cutting, screen printing, collagraphs and lithography in attempt to interpret the landscape.
STUDIO: The Lodge House is a natural health practice, transformed for the weekend to exhibit varied artworks by local artists.
