I work with ceramics using mainly porcelain and bone china. I make bowls and platters and decorate them using slips, china paints and lustres. Sometimes I include my own photographic transfers to give my plates a more current slant.

I caught the pottery bug whilst on holiday in France some 18 years ago. The young woman potter, who was doing a demonstration in her studio, was so absorbed in her work that this instantly looked like the most positive and fulfilling way of life!

Once I completed my City and Guilds in Pottery and HND in Fine Arts in Sheffield, I felt more equipped to set up my ceramics studio where I spend most of my time.

I work in porcelain and sometimes bone china and decorate my objects with oxides and slips as well as lustres and precious metal overglazes. My inspiration comes from the local flora and fauna and roses, dandilions and marine life seem to feature in my work a lot.

As I originally come from Yugoslavia, I have a great understanding of foreign culture and affairs. I am interested in my native land’s folklore and have recently visited Romany settlements in my home town. Some of the photographs I took on that trip will be tidied up on Adobe Photoshop and made into transfers for my plates.

STUDIO: My studio is at the bottom of our garden, a beautiful though small stone building. It will be signposted and is easy to reach. On the day of your visit, you can expect to see me working and perhaps influence my hand!
