I paint anything and everything that appeals to my creative spirit, portraiture, life studies, landscapes, still life, architectural and figurative compositions, using oil, acrylic, ink and gouache.
I graduated in fine arts from Saint Martin’s School of Art, London.
I have taught art in secondary schools, adult education and polytechnics and have also spent several years as a graphic designer and visualiser for an advertising agency.
A prize winner in Sheffield University Centenary competition organised by Sheffield University Fine Art Society, I was, also, awarded first prize in the Abstract Section of the Art in The Garden Exhibition.
I have exhibited and sold over a number of years not only in Britain but also North America, France and Italy.
My paintings initially, were post impressionist or fauvist inspired – also the art of Hokusai and Utamaro. However, my work has progressed towards more abstract images of landscape and architecture. I am motivated by colour and shape, the latter being broken down into further shapes without losing the original concept – basically, the design. The reflections of light on water at different times of the day continue to be a source of stimulation.
I work in oils, pastels, acrylic and gouache, often mixing mediums.
