I paint abstracts, using oil and wax on canvas, layering and scraping back, revealing what has gone before, endeavouring to make that which is invisible, visible.
I trained at St Martins School of Art in London. I paint with oil and wax on canvas, layering and scraping back, revealing what has gone before, endeavouring to make that which is invisible, visible. I am fascinated by colour, the elements, open spaces and the play of light. Form and colour are juxtaposed, inviting the viewer to let go of fixed preconceptions, bringing their imagination into play, and enter into a more liminal state of awareness - an awareness of the possibilities beyond dualism, an awareness that might glimpse states of changed consciousness, an awareness of awakening to beauty.
As a Buddhist I paint in relation to the indefinable, transient nature of ‘being’ and as such my paintings are contemplative, meditative and mysterious. They are intimate, poetic pieces that evoke landscapes of the mind, with sensual texture that beckons the viewer to …touch.
STUDIO: My studio is a conservatory, with easy access, opening out into a beautiful garden.
DIRECTIONS: Bus 44 and 44A to Coal Aston, get off Dych Lane/Wilson Road. At mini roundabout turn left down Eckington road and turn right onto Stone Road, which leads to Bents Lane.
