My paintings are figurative depictions of landscape, flowers and the figure.

I am very interested in how light, shade and colour fall on the subject. This might be light catching the curve of a part of the body, a shadow on a hillside, a patch of blue sky reflected on wet sand, or the dark shapes around rocks.

I work as a Dentist in general practice, where I am known by my maiden name Katherine Lines. My paintings are done whenever I can, making time outside of dentistry and caring for my family. Many of my paintings are done on holiday.

I began painting in watercolour over twenty years ago. I also paint and draw in oils, acrylics, pastel, charcoal and pencil. Recently, I have explored printmaking, which necessitates looking at the subject differently. This has refreshed my approach to all my artwork.

STUDIO: The Lodge House is a natural health practice, transformed for the weekend to exhibit varied artworks by local artists.

DIRECTIONS: Approaching Walkley from town, The Lodge House is on the left hand side of Howard Road at the bottom of the private drive leading to the Buddhist Centre. Buses 94/95/123 run every 10-15 minutes, the bus stop is 50m beyond the Lodge House.
